West Coast Labor Deal Ratified by ILWU
West Coast dockworkers entered the Labor Day holiday with a reason to celebrate as June’s tentative agreement between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and the Pacific Maritime Association was ratified last week with an “aye” vote from 75% of union membership. The move comes on the heels of last month’s deal between the ILWU Canada and the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association getting the thumbs up, ending a two-week strike but leaving rail and trucking snarled by the container buildup.
