Trump’s China Tariffs Get Silly, but Other Negotiations Bear Fruit


As collective U.S. levies against China scale up to 145%, with a recent White House document hinting at an absurd 245% figure, Beijing trained its eye on the U.S. service sector for retaliation as trade between the countries plummets. The PRC’s announcement last week that it would ignore direct retaliation against the triple-digit figures was followed by mounting pressure on services, such as the travel, legal, finance, and entertainment realms, where the U.S. still holds a marked surplus.
