Trump Holds Back from Immediate Tariffs in Trade Policy Memo


The newly inaugurated Trump Administration released a broad “America First Trade Policy” memorandum Monday calling for a wave of fact-finding before any new levies are imposed. However, Trump maintained that a 25% tariff on imports from Mexico and Canada could be imposed as soon as Feb. 1, using illegal drugs and immigration as justification, while universal tariffs are still on the table but on hold for now.
