Third Quarter Revenues Grow 1%, but Total Profit Soars
Total sales inched higher to $57,958.4 million from $57,577.4 million in the third quarter at the 51 public companies we track, while the aggregate bottom line jumped 22% to $4,213.2 million from $3,462.4 million. There were a few vast swings, like Peloton’s near breakeven and VF Corp. lapping last year’s Timberland tax bill, and as always, larger companies had an outsized effect on the total.
