Growing at the fastest pace in two years, sporting goods imports increased 8.9% in the third quarter to $5,713.9 million from $5,246.6 million a year ago, driven mainly by athletic footwear, but all categories except winter sports were higher. Sneaker imports jumped 18.7% to $1,563.5 million, the highest dollar total since 2022, and apparel also turned positive for the first time in seven quarters, growing 5.6% to $793.3 million.
