Shoe Station Profits Fall in Promotional Q2


Net income tumbled 67% to $6,259,000 from $19,225,000 for the second quarter on a 7% drop in sales to $284,309,000 from $306,388,000, with comps across banners down 7.1% in an increasingly competitive footwear marketplace. Sales at the Shoe Carnival fleet declined 7% to $178.5 million with a negative comp of 6.3%, while Shoe Station banner sales were off 8% to $105.7 million, comping down 8.5%.
