Retailers Plan Steady Store Opening Pace This Year
Industry retailers plan to grow their aggregate footprint by 2.4% in 2025, exactly the same as last year, despite continued macro pressures on consumers and the unstable trade environment. Retailers are often overly optimistic at the beginning of the year and then pull back as the year progresses, but 2024’s square footage growth came in very close to the 2.5% plan.
