Retailers stocking up to avoid disruptions ahead of a potential strike at East Coast and Gulf Coast ports this fall could see a near-record surge this month as contract talks have stalled, according the NRF and Hackett Associates’ Global Port Tracker. The contract between the International Longshoremen’s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance is set to expire on Sep. 30, and negotiations have broken down.
