Negotiations Continue after Tariff Letters
The flurry of tariff letters from the Trump Administration has brought further uncertainty with major trading partners as the president threatened 30% levies on the EU and Mexico in Truth Social posts on Sunday. The letters were among roughly two dozen that have gone out over the past week, setting Aug. 1 imposition dates for tariffs ranging from 20% to 50%, separate from sector-based rates. The administration also announced a 50% tariff on copper.
