More Tariff Chaos Roils Markets
Today, the Trump administration abruptly paused the nonsensical “reciprocal” tariffs it imposed last week on nearly every country in the world, reverting to the 10% base tariff on all trading partners that it announced in Feb. The exception is China, which will now face a 125% tariff on shipments to the U.S. after a week of belligerent messaging between Beijing and Washington. The tariff reprieve is for 90 days, and was ostensibly the result of many countries reaching out to negotiate trade terms with the U.S., according to the administration. Industry ...
