Although footwear continues to trail KSS’ overall performance, the category delivered the most significant sequential gain, with comps accelerating around 500 basis points compared to the prior quarter. Nike and Adidas got a callout as fresh inventory was introduced in core active categories. Active’s recovery was led by Nike, which saw its largest gains of the year, alongside sustained strength in the retailer’s proprietary brands, Tek Gear and FLX, as consumers remained budget-conscious. Additionally, kids’ footwear grew mid-single digits, bolstering Kohl’s confidence in its Back-to-School assortment.
