The mass merchant said that sales of active apparel returned to year-over-year growth in the first quarter, after a Q4 that saw national brands down high-single digits. Sneakers lagged somewhat, but KSS said sales of its top three brand vendors improved, and active overall outperformed the company average. Outdoor continues to perform well within active, and KSS plans to expand outdoor offerings in is home segment, adding camping and outdoor gear. Top performing active brands in the quarter were Nike, Columbia, Hurley and Eddie Bauer.
