Despite growing macro headwinds, the industry managed to post 4% growth in 2022 on top of the prior year’s record-breaking 16% top line spike, according to the SFIA’s 2023 State of The Industry report. The single-digit gain ranks as the second largest percentage increase since 2010. Gains were bolstered by racquet sport participation gains along with 1% growth from outdoor sports even comping against lockdown tailwinds, particularly in trail running, hiking, bicycling and camping, as documented in the SFIA’s earlier top line participation report.
