Holiday Sales Forecasts Predict Slowing Growth
Early forecasts are projecting mid-single-digit sales growth for the Holiday season, moderated by easing inflation that drove last year’s top line gains but seeing some boost from a pull back on services and experiences spending that siphoned dollars away from goods. Deloitte’s preliminary forecast sees retail sales of $1.54 to $1.56 trillion for the season, up between 3.5% and 4.6% over $1.49 trillion in 2022. Within that figure, e-commerce is expected to account for between $278 and $284 billion, meaning a 10.3% to 12.8% increase from $252 billion prior.
