Gildan Activewear Drives Q2 Gains
Profits jumped 136% to $137.9 million from $58.4 million in the second quarter as GIL lapped proxy battle costs, while the top line posted a 7% gain to $918.5 million, a Q2 record, compared to $862.2 million. The U.S. was up 8% to $825.6 million while Canada grew 17% to $32.0 million. International dropped 14% to $60.9 million as demand moderated in Europe, Asia remained soft from macro headwinds, and Latin America faced tough comps.
