Net loss in the seasonally small first quarter narrowed to $14,814,000 from a loss of $21,227,000, as Journeys’ growing top line boosted revenue 3% to $487,025,000 from $473,973,000. GCO benefited from a one-time $13.4 million credit card fee settlement, partially offset by $3.3 million in charges for store and other restructuring actions. Overall, same-store sales increased 3%, lapping a +5% comp in Q1 last year, the seventh consecutive quarter of positive overall comps. E-commerce sales were flat, down from +7% a year ago.
