Early Reads Suggest Holiday Sales Increased Modestly
Preliminary looks at Holiday 2024 are finding a mid-singles gain for overall retail sales as a return to brick-and-mortar shopping did not deter continued e-commerce growth. Visa Consulting & Analytics’ latest Retail Spend Monitor found that overall U.S. holiday retail spending was up 5% across channels and payment methods. Visa analysts opined that shoppers sought out in-store experiences this year, helping in-store sales account for 77% of payment volume for the season.
