Dick’s-Foot Locker Deal Clears Final HSR Hurdle
Dick’s Sporting Goods’ acquisition of Foot Locker saw the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Act waiting period expire Monday, checking the final box to set up an expected closure on Sep. 8 for the $2.4 billion deal, which will create the industry’s largest global retail player. Within the U.S., Foot Locker’s 6.1 million sq. ft. across various banners will meet Dick’s 43.6 million in square footage, putting the post-sale footprint about five times JD Sports’ 9.8 million. The Dick’s fleet itself is more than twice the size of its nearest full-line competitor, Academy Sports.
