Breakthrough Deal Ends West Coast Port Dispute
Heading off fears of a repeat of 2015, when failing negotiations led to a lockout, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and the Pacific Maritime Association reached a tentative agreement Wednesday night on a new six-year contract to cover 22,000 dockworkers across all 29 West Coast ports. The parties have yet to disclose the terms of the deal, which now moves into legal vetting before final ratification.
