Asics North America Soars on Wholesale Gains
After a year back in charge of Asics’ business in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, Koichiro Kodama touted the brand’s success with performance running in the run specialty channel and elsewhere with its hot-selling Sportstyle footwear. The parent company reported last week that N.A. sales grew 15% to ¥30,796 million ($202.1 mm) in the final quarter and were up 18% to ¥135,041 million ($891.9 mm) for the full year. The strong dollar against the yen provided a tailwind, but sales in local currencies still improved 10%.
