Profit slipped 13% in the second quarter to $125,434,000 from $142,588,000 on 3% higher sales of $1,599,838,000 up from $1,548,980,000, helped by new stores and 0.2% higher same-store sales, lapping last year’s -6.9% comp. The quarter got off to a slow start before turning positive for the final seven weeks. It was ASO’s first positive comp since 2021, combining a 1.5% improvement in ticket with 1.4% lower transactions. E-commerce was a bright spot, growing 18% and by 120 basis points to 10.9% of total sales.
