Net income improved by 14% in the first quarter to $52,703,000 from $46,084,000, as the top line grew 7% to $1,442,003,000 from $1,351,409,000, helped by 21 new stores and a return to positive comps, +2.9% against -3.7% last year. Comps from recent store openings now in the comp base were up in the high single digits. Traffic improved by low single digits while AUR grew high single digits, though units per transaction were down slightly. E-commerce was a standout, increasing 17%.
