Team sports are clawing their way back to near pre-pandemic levels, some “pandemic-friendly” sports are continuing their rally, and inactivity is tracking at its lowest since 2010, according to SFIA’s latest top line participation report. Overall U.S. participation for ages 6-plus totaled 237 million people, or 78% of the demographic, a gain of 1.9% over 2021 and 9.2% over the past five years. Looking at lockdown winners, yoga turned in its first year-over-year decrease in a decade, dipping 2% in total participation. However, Barre and Pilates both gained in the mid-singles. ...
