The embattled Vans and The North Face parent has extended an olive branch to activist investors with the appointment of fashion veteran Caroline Brown to its board. Engaged Capital, which holds a 1.3% stake in VFC, asked for board changes last Oct. in a public letter to the company, and was soon joined by Legion Partners in its call for divesting non-core brands and other shakeups.
