Amidst cautious optimism from industry players, McKinsey & Company sees four key themes dominating the coming year in its Sporting Goods 2024: Time to Move report, produced with the WFSGI, outlining paths forward in shifting consumer preference, planning/inventory management, sustainability targets, and sports ecosystems. McKinsey data found 90% of industry leaders expect stability or improvements on sales and margins for the year, though 81% still see inflation and overstocking as a continuing challenge. These sentiments come after last year’s 6% global sales growth over a 2% gain in the prior year.
