Johnson Outdoors’ Results Hurt by Soft Demand


Johnson Outdoors’ net income declined 33% to $3,955,000 from $5,879,000 in the first fiscal quarter ended Dec. 29, on 22% lower revenues of $138,644,000 against $178,337,000, with declines across all categories. Fishing sales contracted 20% to $110.5 million, and generated the bulk of the profits, with operating income off 26% to $11.5 million, primarily driven by high inventory levels at retail and soft consumer demand.
