FDRA Finds Athletic is Driving Spring/Summer Footwear Sales
Sneakers are outperforming other footwear categories in planned total spend and are driving shoppers to stores, according to the Footwear Distributors & Retailers of America’s spring ‘24 U.S. Consumer Footwear Survey. AlixPartners conducted the survey of over 1,000 U.S. footwear consumers ages 15 and older, covering their intentions for Spring/Summer purchases. Respondents plan to increase spending on athletic footwear by 2%, while every other category was down, including casual shoes (-6%), athleisure (-9%), fashion/dress (-19%), and work shoes/boots (-21%).
