Net income was ¥19,663 million ($183.3 mm) compared to ¥10,050 million for the first quarter ended Mar. 31 on sales of ¥76,920 million ($717.2 mm) compared to ¥87,714 million.
Comprehensive net income was up 13% to SEK466 million ($48.2 mm) from SEK412 million in the first quarter, helped by a SEK107 million positive swing in foreign currency translation and other comprehensive items, as net sales fell 5% (-7.5%CC) to SEK1,744 million ($180.5 mm) from SEK1,834 million.
Net income fell by two-thirds to $1,188,000 from $3,605,000 in the first quarter on 15% lower sales of $55,720,000 down from $65,929,000.
Sales at HELE’s housewares segment, which includes Hydro Flask, increased 15% to $144,948,000 from $126,069,000 in the final fiscal quarter ended Feb. 29, but operating income slid 32% to $13,965,000 from $20,392,000.
With about 400 national parks, including many of the most visited sites, closing in mid-March due to the coronavirus, total recreational visitors for the month fell 14.2% to 18,389,954 from 21,419,934.
