Two outdoor industry stalwarts signaled that they expect the impact of the coronavirus shutdown to last beyond the end of Apr. as VF Corp. said it would close all retail stores in North America until May 3 and EMEA stores until further notice while REI said it would begin an unpaid furlough for most retail and field employees starting Apr. 15 that would last 90 days, or until July 14, though it added that it hoped to begin curbside pickup service in 45 days at the end of May.
