Studies Say Holiday Shopping Will See Major Shift to Online
E-commerce will account for an increasing share of sales this Holiday season, and store traffic will plunge by nearly a quarter, according to recent research by Accenture and Sensormatic Solutions’ ShopperTrak. Accenture’s 14th annual Holiday Shopping Survey of 1,517 U.S. consumers found that 75% say they’ll do at least some of their Holiday shopping online this year, up from 65% last year, and 43% plan to shop exclusively online. While BOPIS and other store pickup variations have gained popularity during the pandemic, 77% of online shoppers still want purchases delivered to their homes.
