Nike Responds to Criticism of Pregnant Athlete Policies

The Eager Beavertons quickly moved to add language to its endorsement contracts for female athletes that will continue to pay them during pregnancy, after stories came out last week exposing its policy of suspending compensation while they took maternity leave from competition. Previously, the terms gave Nike the right to reduce or terminate pay of these athletes during pregnancy if they don’t compete for six months, and runners Alysia Montaño and Kara Goucher both said they were affected.
