Nautilus Posts Another Down Quarter as it Hopes for a Q4 Rebound

Net loss for the third quarter was $10,689,000 compared to a profit of $4,309,000, as revenues were off 32% to $61,708,000 from $91,057,000. Direct sales were $16.2 million, down 44% over last year, primarily due to lower Max Trainer sales and a related 37% reduction in advertising expense compared to last year. Segment gross margin plunged to 38.3% from 57.3%, mostly from unfavorable overhead absorption and a less profitable product mix.
