Zumiez Sales Accelerate in May after Q1 Loss


The teen retailer swung to a loss of $21,101,000 in the first quarter from net income of $793,000 last year, on revenues that dipped 35% to $137,772,000 from $212,928,000. Comps were not provided given the temporary store closures. The first quarter was tracking ahead of plan through early March, with sales up 8%, but virtually all stores were shuttered when the pandemic hit sending sales down 60% for the rest of the period despite a 76% increase in e-commerce.
