Xtep Buys K-Swiss Brands for $260 Million


In what is likely to be a recurring theme over the next few years, a major Chinese footwear brand with limited international presence has acquired an internationally known brand. E-land, a South Korean footwear and fashion retailer, bought K-Swiss in 2013 for $170 million in cash after the Nichols family had struggled to turn around the brands’ fortunes for several years. E-Land, a privately held company, has in recent years been looking to raise cash to solve its own liquidity issues, attempting to list some of its retail operations on the public exchanges as well.
