VF Corp. Will Sell Reef to Rockport Group


It will be added to a portfolio of footwear brands under P.E. firm Charlesbank Capital that, in addition to Rockport includes Dunham and Aravon. Charlesbank, which recently hired sneaker vet Greg Ribatt to run the company, recently cashed out of Varsity Brands, which it acquired for $1.5 billion in 2015 and sold to Bain Capital for $2.5 billion in Jun. VF said Reef will continue to operate out of its Carlsbad, CA, headquarters. The deal is expected to close this month. Terms were not disclosed.
