The Redskins Are No More


As was widely expected, Washington’s NFL team ownership announced that it would stop using the Redskins name and imagery, yielding to pressure from FedEx, who has naming rights for its stadium, and Nike, Dick’s and other retailers who pulled its apparel from shelves and websites. But the new name is still a mystery, as multiple sources reported that the team’s preferred replacement moniker and logo is currently the subject of a trademark dispute.
