Net income was off 7% to $10,540,000 from $11,390,000 for the 13 weeks ended Jan. 28 as sales rose 6% to $221,376,000 from $208,548,000 on a 5.2% comp store decline that was partially blamed on tough comparisons against the San Bernardino shooting. The post-election decline in shooting sports accounted for 4.2% of the comp decline. It had a positive 0.4% comp in apparel and a positive 1.8% comp in footwear, two categories which represent 15% of sales suggesting that its camping business was also soft.
