SportChek Top Line Improves in Q4 and Helly Hansen Soars
Revenues at Canadian Tire’s SportChek unit, which includes all its sporting goods banners, gained 3% in the important Holiday quarter to C$619.4 million ($469.2 mm) from C$602.5 million including a 2.0% comp sales increase over last years +2.5% comp. The top line was driven by expanded accessories and wellness category sales, along with strength from footwear and owned brands including Helly Hansen, Ripzone, and Sherwood. Sales per square foot improved to C$305 from $298, but gross margin declined an unspecified amount due to a higher proportion of e-commerce sales.
