The world’s rugged outdoor footwear market rose by 6.8% to $5,149 million in 2018 from $4,820 million the year before, including 6.1% growth in the U.S. and a 7.4% gain in international. The growth in local currencies was lower as the dollar lost about 5% of its value against the euro in the course of last year. In 2017, when the dollar weakened by 2% against the euro, the market rose by 10.2%, with growth of 5.9% in the U.S. and 13.5% elsewhere, accelerating its development as compared to the previous two years.
