Retail Imports Surge, but Port Delays are Declining


Only 17 container ships were waiting to dock at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach in recent days, according to the National Retail Federation and Hackett Associates, down from over 30 a month ago. The declining backlog is good news, since Mar. retail imports were estimated at 2.07 twenty-foot equivalent units and Apr. is forecast at 1.99 million TEU, powered by consumer demand fueled by government stimulus payments.
