Remington Insurers Settle Sandy Hook Lawsuit
Seven years after a group of nine families, whose children or adult relatives were killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting sued Remington, four insurance companies will pay $73 million to settle the case. Remington manufactured the Bushmaster AR-style rifle that was used in the attack. The original lawsuit, which was filed in 2014 in CT state court, was thrown out because of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act that immunizes gunmakers from liability for crimes committed using their products.
