NRF Survey Sees 8% Gain in Back-to-School Spending
The National Retail Federation’ annual Back-to-School survey is projecting that K-12 consumer spend will increase 8% to an average of $848.90, with apparel and shoes are both pegged to also turn in an 8% gain to $253.46 from $234.48, and $161.04 from $149.20, respectively, as more students return to classrooms full-time. For college shoppers, clothing is expected to gain 7% to $158.98 from $148.37 in average spend, with shoes up 9% to $99.57 from $91.31.
