Nike Drops Huge Footwear Sale; Closes Largest DC


The Eager Beavertons launched an unusually aggressive, 25%-off all footwear sale on its website and shopping app, with exclusions limited to just a few high-end retro Jordans. Nike sales are certainly getting hurt by the same Covid-19-related retail store closures and stay-at-home orders as its competitors, but we see this more as an offensive move to accelerate its Consumer Direct Offense. When the pandemic begins to tail off and shopping returns to normal, Nike will have added even more consumer names to its enormous DTC database and have further strengthened its position relative to wholesale accounts.
