NFHS Sees Alarming Drop in Sports Participation
The effect of the pandemic on scholastic sports participation tops the list of issues that the National Federation of State High School Associations is facing, as schools around the country restart classes and team sports. NFHS Executive Director Karissa Niehoff, speaking at the SFIA’s team sports conference, said that the lack of normal school activities has reduced students’ reported quality of life from the upper 80s down to 70th percentile, a drop off researchers called alarming.
