The president of Wilson since 2013 will become CEO and executive director of the governing organization for American tennis. He will replace Gordon Smith who has held the position since 2007 and announced his decision in January to step down at the end of this year. Dowse’s replacement at Wilson has not been announced. He is actually the second tennis executive to recently hold a top post at the USTA. Former Head Sports tennis chief Dave Haggerty was president of the association, a volunteer role with a two-year term, in 2013-14 and now heads the International Tennis Federation.
