Global Sporting Goods Retail Grew 10% Last Year
Sales at 64 of the world’s largest sporting goods specialty chains increased by 10% in local currencies and the same percentage in dollars to $101,498 million in 2017 from $92,431 million the year before when the U.S. market was in the throes of the Retail Apocalypse. Decathlon and Dick’s defended the top two steps on the podium, but Bass Pro’s acquisition of Cabela’s vaulted it ahead of Foot Locker and Academy last year.
