Global Retail Chains Grew 5% in 2018
Driven by organic growth in China and Southeast Asia as well as acquisitions of some major European retail chains, the revenues of the largest sporting goods chains increased 7% in dollars in 2018 to $104,420 million against $98,182 million, and were up 5% in local currency. The year was marked by the increasingly global ambitions of a handful of retailers who believe their importance to key brands is enhanced and their supply chains have the sophistication to adapt to local tastes.
