The retailer is opening three Overtime by Dick’s Sporting Goods stores and five Dick’s Sporting Goods Warehouse stores this week, with both banners selling merchandise at deep discounts. We expect to see a very promotional marketplace as the economy starts to recover from the coronavirus lockdowns, but Dick’s noted that its own inventory was exceptionally clean and actually down 2% y-o-y at the end of Q1. However, it did make some opportunistic purchases of off-price inventory from certain unspecified brands, much of which will probably find its way into the new stores.
