Concerns Increase Over China Trade War
With talks between the U.S. and China apparently stalled and President Trump threatening to increase duties on $200 million in imports to 25% from 10%, the likelihood is growing that tariffs will escalate on Friday, including on a number of key sporting goods products. Various media outlets are reporting that China reversed its promises on some key aspects of the negotiations last week, including theft of U.S. intellectual property and trade secrets; forced technology transfers; competition policy; access to financial services; and currency manipulation. U.S. officials had considered these settled matters, and the changes infuriated the President.
