Commission Tells NBA Stars to Dump Chinese Brands
A letter sent to the NBA Players Assoc. by the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, asked NBA players to stop endorsing Chinese brands that continue to use Xinjiang cotton. A number of players have contracts with Anta Sports, Li-Ning, and Peak, three companies that were specifically called out in the letter. The NBA and its players have historically taken up causes of equality and social justice, such as voting rights and police accountability, the letter notes, and also should consider the human rights abuses taking place in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
